Kenneth Cohen – Animal Frolics Qigong: Vitality of the Deer, Power of the Tiger 2020
Jun 30 @ 9:00 am - Jul 2 @ 5:00 pm
Qigong Grandmaster Kenneth Cohen
‘Animal Frolics Qigong’
3 Day Training
Vitality of the Deer, Power of the Tiger
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am-5pm
These gentle yet dynamic exercises are meditation in motion and connected to the Taoist quest for longevity, health, and peace.
Learn a complete qigong wellness routine, based on the grace and vitality of the Deer and the strength and power of the Tiger.
By practicing these ancient postures and movements, we awaken an ancient part of ourselves and the Paleolithic wisdom of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. We find the spirit of the animals within, and, like them, learn how to connect to the healing power of nature.
Created by the second century doctor of Chinese medicine, Hua Tuo, the Animal Frolics are the oldest healing exercises in the world and the standard against which other qigong methods are measured.
Although practice oriented, there will also be time for discussion of Taoist self-care philosophy, including how specific foods and herbs build strong, resilient energy. The course requires no previous experience. Beginners and all levels are welcome.
Each day runs from 9am – 5pm with a mid-morning break around 10.30 where freely available hot drinks will be served, coffee and herbal teas.
Lunch break will be from 12-2pm.
An afternoon short break will also be faciliitated, as we understand there is plenty to be learning and practising.
Ken will offer private sessions on the Friday 3 July at £175 per hour for one or two people. They will occur at the same venue, in a different room, from 9am. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in, and the optimum times, as these were over subscribed last year. A non-refundable deposit is required for this facility.
We are hiring a marquee with a carpeted floor to ensure there is ample space to practice and access to nature if the weather is fine.
Book directly with Melanie at The Retreat New Forest for accommodation as they run an AirBnB facility at the venue.
I understand that the price is the same for single or double occupancy. Mel is available to ask any questions about your accommodation at the venue and is extraordinarily helpful.
There are alternative airbnb’s in the area and hotels if the Retreat New Forest gets booked up.
We are arranging a hearty vegetarian lunch for the three days at a cost of £20 per day, this is included in some of the ticket choices. Vegan options are available on request and dietary requirements catered for. You could also bring a packed lunch.
We are looking at the possibility of offering evening meals as The Retreat New Forest is expanding and hopes to have this facility by the summer. If not, we can look at arranging a caterer and will begin touch nearer the time in this regard.
If you are coming by car then there are a variety of eateries around the area.
We will be offering evening sound healing events to enjoy on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These will be confirmed nearer the time.
Tickets are accessible from the box below. If yo uhave any trouble accessing these, please try the direct link to Eventbrite here
“Without actually being in Ken Cohen’s presence, it would be very hard to believe that an American could have such profound and detailed understanding of traditional Chinese culture. His Qigong movements express true mastery and a deep cultivation of the spirit of China. Professor Kenneth Cohen’s dissemination of Chinese culture to the Western World is an enormous work and a glorious achievement.”
“Ken Cohen is a rare combination of expert practitioner, gifted scholar, and lucid writer. He manages to convey not only the techniques of qigong, but the wisdom of qigong. His work nourishes the clinician, the scientist, and, most importantly, the average individual looking for practical ways to enhance life and health.”
